Nationwide

Remote Bookkeeping, Tax & CFO Services in All 50 States

Our office is in St. Augustine. The credential that decides where we can work is federal.

Ashley J. Trimboli is an IRS Enrolled Agent — licensed by the Internal Revenue Service itself, not by any state board. Enrolled agents have unlimited practice rights: unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before. That authority does not stop at the Florida line.

In practice most of what we do is location-independent. Books live in QuickBooks Online, documents move securely, returns are e-filed and reviews happen by phone or video. Clients in Ohio or Oregon get the same standing conversation about their numbers as clients in Ponte Vedra.

Where state lines still matter

Some things genuinely are state-specific: state income tax filings, state registration and sales tax, and estate planning, where probate and inheritance rules are set state by state. State filings are handled as part of the engagement — and if something in your state calls for local counsel, we will tell you at the outset rather than partway through.

What travels anywhere

Multi-state situations we handle often

Relocating to or from Florida

A part-year return in the state you left, and documentation that makes Florida domicile hold up if it is ever questioned.

Remote work across state lines

Employees living in one state and employers in another, plus the withholding and credit-for-taxes-paid questions that follow.

Multi-state business nexus

Customers, staff, inventory or economic nexus in more than one state — and knowing where that creates a filing obligation.

Out-of-state rental property

Non-resident returns, depreciation, passive-activity limits and basis tracking on property outside your home state.

Answers

Working With Us From Outside Florida

Can an Enrolled Agent prepare taxes in any state?

Yes. An Enrolled Agent is licensed at the federal level by the Internal Revenue Service, not by a state board — so the credential is not tied to any one state. Enrolled agents have unlimited practice rights: unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before. A CPA licence, by contrast, is issued state by state.

Do you handle state returns as well as federal?

Yes, state filings are handled as part of the engagement. Tell us which states you have a filing obligation in when we scope the work — a few states have their own rules worth confirming up front, and if anything in your situation genuinely calls for local counsel we will say so at the outset rather than partway through.

How does working with an accountant in another state actually work?

Much the way it works for our Florida clients. Bookkeeping runs in QuickBooks Online, documents are exchanged securely, returns are e-filed, and reviews happen by phone or video. Most of our out-of-area clients never need to meet in person. What does not change is that you are talking to the person who actually knows your numbers.

I moved to or from Florida this year. Which states do I file in?

Usually both — a part-year return in the state you left and a final reconciliation of what that state can still tax. Florida has no personal income tax, which makes the year you establish domicile here unusually valuable and unusually worth documenting properly. It is one of the most common situations we handle, and it is much easier to get right in advance than to defend afterwards. See our tax planning page.

Can I use you for bookkeeping only, without tax work?

Yes. Plenty of clients start with monthly bookkeeping and keep an existing relationship for their return. We will hand off clean, well-documented records either way.

Does an out-of-state business still need a Florida accountant?

Not necessarily — but if you have customers, employees, property or economic nexus in more than one state, someone needs to be tracking where that creates a filing obligation. That is a question worth asking before a state asks it for you.
